Towards the end of 2017 a chance visit to photograph the old concrete sound mirror on the White Cliffs of Dover led me to visit the coastal town of Folkestone. I immediately fell in love with this place on the edge of the English Channel, and found myself living here less than a year later. At the time, Folkestone's reputation was not the best, leading to many of my friends in London asking, Why Folkestone?
Over the past seven years, I have taken tens of thousands of images along the coast, capturing the sunrises, sunsets and storms that make this such a unique place. Folkestone has many photo worthy locations, including the Harbour Arm, the wild beauty of the Warren, and its proximity to Dungeness, classified as the only desert in the UK.
After two years of compilation, layout and typesetting, the coffee table photographic book Why Folkestone is finally printed. There are a total of 128 pages consisting of 93 images along with the stories behind some of the images. I have also included the EXIF details behind each images, so you can see the settings used when photographing. The dimensions of this hardback book is 26 x 26cm giving the images plenty of space on the page, and making it a photographic book you would be to be proud to display on your coffee table or book shelf.
